Commander Bruce Kovak, 47, Served With Public Health Service Corps

Commander Bruce Charles Kovak of Eden, Md., formerly of Westfield, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in Salisbury, Md. He was 47 years old.


Commander Kovak died while serving on active duty with the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He was assigned to the Food and Drug Administration, Baltimore District Office.  He previously had served in the United States Army for 10 years, attaining the rank of Major.


Surviving are his wife, Cindy Kovak; a son, Bruce Kovak, Jr.; his parents, George and Charlotte Kovak; a brother, Brian Kovak, and sister-in-law, Mary; nieces Tara, Christine and Megan; nephew Craig, and an uncle, Charles Tarr.


Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, May 19, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, May 20, at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
