In Memory

Janice Ruth VIEW PROFILE

Janis Ruth succumbed to pancreatic cancer yesterday, Tuesday, November 18th, 2014, here in NJ, surrounded by her family. My brother Paul Ceccon ('78) is close friends with Janis' younger sister, Geri "Chicky" O'Gorman (aka Chicky Ruth). Paul posted this on Facebook yesterday: In memory of Janis, a friend who has lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She has moved on to fill other spaces with her beautiful colors... I am heartbroken to hear of this.  Janice was a wonderful warmhearted person.  I had no idea of her fight against pancreatic cancer, but I have no doubt it was a valiant one.

I had actually thought of Janice several times since we started planning our 40 year reunion.  Janice and I had started a conversation at the 35 year reunion, which had been interrupted by the fun of seeing other classmates and I had been looking forward to finishing the conversation.

I'm so sad to hear this!! Janice!!!!  We had a great time catching up at the 35th Reunion.  Remembering wild and crazy Edison Junior High days -- and also both of us living in Burlington, Vermont in the early 80's.  Janice, rest in peace, my friend.  Sympathy to her family...

Janice was my good friend.  I will remember her this way: dancing wildly to Irish music at the Eagle Tavern in NYC; our week-long bicycling trip on Martha's Vineyard as adventurous 16 year olds; hiking; hanging out; growing up together.  I am sad to hear this news but sharing memories helps.

Perhaps we can take some small comfort in knowing that her battle was a mercifully short 3 months, and throughout her battle, she was supported and surrounded by her siblings and her mom.  Rest in Peace.

Another one of us gone way too young. Although I did not know her well, I remember her as being kind. May her family and friends find comfort in beautiful memories.

Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.  I was truly blown away when I learned of the passing of Janice. Her life has touched many and I know her living was not in vain.  I have only fond memories.  My condolences to the family.  If any one knows any information about the services or where I can send condolences, please let me know.

So sad to hear about Janice.  I will always remember her as a " Trinity Girl" since I meet her through Janet Gunning when I was in 6th grade.  We all had such wonderful times together at Tamques Park, starting Edison Jr High and going to High School Football games.  I am glad that I got to see her at the "35th".  We got to laugh about the times we had at Edison.  Talk about getting together when she went to visit her parents in FL but I guess that is for another lifetime.  Thank you for being a good part of my adolescence and will be missed.

This is very sad news. Janice was a kind and loyal friend. She got me into yoga. She had character and an adventurous nature. She taught me how to fold saris. We had fun. She reminded me of Pocahontas. We took Russian literature together. She will always be in my heart. Thank you for posting this. Wishing comfort to her family and loved ones.
